June 3rd

Last night we heard the agents here in China wanted to inspect one container and its contents of two cars the next day. Geof, warren and graeme headed off at 10 am to the container terminal in an official black limo . The cars were released from the container and the contents given a thorough going over. Tomorrow is our turn along with a driving test and probably a test of our sense of humour.
The Fiat team finally appeared chronologically challenged as we have come to expect (late as usual)

Sandra and I spent a day in the local Hutongs and markets and came back with depleted wallets again. It included antiques, electronics and other necessaries. Bargains of course

Tomorrow our first look at the Capri in two months, I do hope it starts. Petrol here is about $1 per litre for 98 octane, great .

Sunday
The traffic and people are even busier today in Beijing. We were picked up at 6.30 am, and taken along the route we will travel next Sunday on the first day of the tour. We stopped at the wall at Jujulong Pass and walked, or rather scrambled up steps to the sky. It leveled out and was quite magnificent, unlike the crappy commercial scene at Badaling last time we were here. Misty overhead some how added to the nice feeling. Back down and up the other side to the watchhouses and accommodation, tourist shops and chinese style coffee. Watched many large trucks struggling up the pass, many on the roadside expired. And thats 7.30 in the morning. We travelled on further up the pass and then back down a service road. Did the tourist stuff on the way back, silk factory, porcelain factory, tea house, jade factory and a quick glimpse of the Olympic Stadium. Back for dinner and what a crowd in the city, seems everyone comes here for their sunday outings.
